Nira is a town Maharashtra 80 km from Pune.〔 It is named after the Nira River. There are two famous education societies in Nira. First is ZP school 1&2. Second is Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya and Kilachand Kanishtha Mahavidyalay, Nira. ==Geography== Nira is situated on the banks of River Nira, at the border of Pune district and Satara district and at the border of Purandar, Baramati, Phaltan, Khandala tehasil. 1. at the border of Pune district and Satara district:- When, one travels from Nira towards Pandharpur, immediately next to Nira, on the Pune-Pandharpur Road, hardly 1 km, you see the end of Pune District, and Satara district starts. So it is the border of these 2 districts. 2. at the border of Purandar, Baramati, Phaltan, Khandala tehasil Immediately when one travels from Nira to Baramati, hardly 3-4 km away, the tehsil Purandar of Pune District, (in which Nira is), once you cross Nimboot village, tehsil Baramati (also in Pune District) starts.
